Watercolours: introduction. This course is designed for beginners and improving artists to take their next steps in learning to paint in water colours.

Learn all you need to know about watercolour painting, water soluble pencil crayons and pen + wash.  Develop your confidence, creativity, painting skills and techniques with experienced tutor support in a friendly, relaxed and inspiring studio environment.  

You will enjoy lots of one to one guidance and step by step teaching in watercolour painting.  Tutors will set you inspiring projects or guide you at your own pace to realise your own watercolour painting projects.  

Suitable for adult beginners and improversEveryone is welcome.

  • Items to bring
    Pencil -2B
    Sharpener
    Eraser
    Watercolour Paper (at least 180 gsm)
    Watercolour Paints (tubes or pans)
    Large Round brush (Size 8 or 10)
    Small Round brush (Size 4 or 6)
    Mixing palette
    Kitchen towel
    Masking tape

    If unsure please bring what you can and wait to ask the tutor at 1st session.

    Optional items to bring
    Baby wipes (hand cleansing tissues)
    Rag (old cloth) for cleaning brushes
    Wear old clothes or bring an apron

    Freely available in the studio
    Easles
    Drawing boards
    Water tubs
    Still life objects to draw and paint

Water colour painting made simple
Learn the principles behind good water colour painting and then put the theory into practice. Learn the techniques and knowledge that will enable you to paint in water colours with confidence.

We understand everyone learns at a different pace and in different ways with different objectives.  This class allows you the freedom to develop in your own direction, at a leisurely pace that will ensure you maximise your enjoyment.

Your weekend will be relaxing and inspiring and you will benefit from lots of support, encouragement and 1:1 guidance from your experienced tutor. This watercolour painting course is led by a qualified adult tutor who is experienced in teaching beginners and improving artists in mixed-ability groups. If you are a beginner you will learn all you need to know to get started in watercolour painting and water soluble drawing materials.  If you’ve been painting in watercolours for a while this class will help you take the next steps to build your skills and develop new techniques to build confidence and creativity.
