Manchester’s most welcoming creative arts organisation, Ancoats Visual Arts, runs the weekly Be Creative art group. It is suitable for everyone who loves creative arts and crafts. No previous experience is required to join.

The Be Creative art group is peer-supported.  Enjoy support from a friendly group of amateur-artists and see your enjoyment and confidence grow. Choose your own projects – drawing, painting or crafting – and enjoy them in a supportive, relaxed and encouraging studio environment. 

We meet in a beautiful art studio close to Manchester city centre.

Suitable for: Absolute-beginners, Beginners, Improvers, Intermediate, Experienced artists.


Prior booking is essential. No cash payments will be accepted in the studio.

Our Be Creative art group is peer-supported and gives members the chance to draw, paint or craft in a supportive, relaxed and encouraging studio environment. Enjoy support from a friendly group of amateur-artists and see your enjoyment and confidence grow as you gain new ideas and learn new techniques. Make the Be Creative art group a regular weekly event in your life.

Supportive environment

Every session of the Be Creative art group is about enjoying a variety of arts and crafts – it’s up to you! We are happy to take suggestions from group members for different group projects and happier still if a member would like to take the lead for specific sessions.

We understand everyone loves arts and crafts for different reasons. Most members join us for leisure, to find out more about arts and crafts, make new friends or improve their general well-being. This group allows you the freedom to develop in your own direction, at a leisurely pace that will ensure you maximise your enjoyment.

Join the art group if you love arts and crafts and enjoy supporting a community spirit

  • Bring your own materials:
    Some suggestions are;

    1. Chalk and oil pastels
    2. Acrylic or water colour paints
    3. paper collage materials and glue
    4. Pencils, pencil crayons, or Charcoal
    5. Knitting, crocheting, rag rugs

    Other useful items to bring
    Baby wipes (hand cleansing tissues)
    Rag (old cloth) for mopping up spills
    Wear old clothes or bring an apron
    Pen and notebook for new ideas

  • Group Size
    Min 3 – Max 12

    Tea, coffee & biscuits by donation (50p per cup).
    Or provide your own.
    Please provide your own lunch if you require it.

  • Refunds: up to 5+ days before event only.
    Transfers: 1 transfer only

  • Our Be Creative art group is peer-led and sessions are organised and run by our fantastic member-volunteers.  There is no tutor so it is essential that group members are thoughtful, supportive, encouraging and friendly towards each other.

    Let us know if you’d like to become one of our fantastic member-volunteers and help run the group and take on some of the responsibility for ensuring each session runs smoothly and happily.
