Starting Art course series

Drawing tools. Improve-your-drawing-title

Starting Art course series
The Starting Art course series is a trilogy of 3 x 10-week courses. It is preferable to book them as a single trilogy, but they are available as stand-alone courses.

Each course gives you the confidence to start flourishing as a creative artist. Perfect for first timers, beginners, improvers and those returning to drawing after many years.

Learn technical skills and creative use of materials
Each course combines technical and creative skills with inspiration and creativity to enable students to discover their creative strengths. Students will learn to draw accurately, start to develop a personal creative style in a wide range of materials.

The courses teach a contemporary personal approach to drawing and mixed media – not how to draw like a photograph.

A supportive, encouraging, patient and inclusive approach to teaching with lots of demonstrations and one-to-one support, will benefit even those students who fear the worst!

Your creativity

Structured Tutor-led learning
Enrolling on the Monday morning classes will give you structured learning with lots of demonstrations and one-to-one support

Free artwork critiques
This opportunity is available between 9.30 – 10am before the start of each session. Students are free to bring in work they have completed at home and receive a supportive and encouraging critique. I always recommend students make the most of this opportunity.

Getting feedback on drawings and paintings is critical in allowing students to make accurate assessments on what skills they are succeeding in and what areas they need to improve. This is something that is not achievable on my short courses due to lack of time.

Be Creative art group
Students are encouraged to attend the Wednesday Be Creative art group.  Being part of the group will give students lots of friendly peer-support in a creative studio atmosphere.

Benefits of attending the Be Creative art group are:

  • Peer-support and friendship to keep you inspired
  • Protected creative time every week
  • Helpful advice from like minded creative people
  • Improve faster by attending regularly
  • Project ideas and suggestions on hand in the studio
  • A safe space to make a mess, try new things and share your enjoyment and passion
