Mid-week Course List

The 2-day mid-week courses are designed for beginners, improvers, intermediate artists, as well as those with more experience looking for a refresher course.  These courses will support your ongoing development as an independent and confident artist, teaching you new techniques to help develop your artistic skills and creativity.  

  • Intro to soluble materials
    This course teachers beginners and improvers a range of exciting water-soluble drawing materials such as graphite, colour pencils, pen + water colour wash and drawing inks.

  • Intro to charcoal + graphite
    This course is designed to help beginners and improvers learn the freedom of drawing with willow charcoal, the emotive power of compressed charcoal, and the joy of graphite and pencil.

  • Intro to pastel painting
    This course offers beginners and improvers the opportunity to learn the art of using pastel painting materials which include soft chalk pastels and oil pastels.

  • Art for Leisure Friday
    Artist-led, social, fun, creative arts and craft classes suitable for all adults.  No previous experience needed.

    The Art for Leisure courses consist of 2 artist-led sessions + the option of attending 2 x Be Creative studio-sessions (free) during the same month as your Art for Leisure Course

    A course that teaches you a wide variety of techniques to build up tactile, textured relief surfaces and visual textures.  You will leave with a wealth of ideas that will give your paintings a new dimension and depth.

    The course gives you the opportunity to develop your 2-point perspective while drawing local heritage buildings in historical Ancoats.  You will learn a variety of creative urban sketching techniques to transform your pencil sketches into works of art.
