Course structure

The course is divided into six 2.5 hour sessions.  You will be drawing from different life models each and every session.  You will have the opportunity to make short, medium and long studies varying from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours.

Session 1
Drawings during this session will help you improve movement and gesture in your life drawings.

Session 2
This session will focus on proportion and scale when drawing the human figure.

Session 3
Learning about structure is very important in life drawing and the exercises we do during this session will help you create solid weighty looking figures.  You will look briefly at the skeletal structure of the human figure to help you understand how the figure functions.

Session 4
Improving how you use line and tone is vital if you are to draw lively and engaging drawings of the human form.  We will be looking to improve the quality of line we use and develop our use of shading or tone.

Session 5
This session will be concentrating on looking closely at the details of the human figure through drawing close-up sections in detail while using all the new skills from previous sessions.

Session 6
The last session gives you the opportunity to enjoy a long 2 hour pose and really delve into the art of life drawing by bringing together all the new skills you have learnt.  You will be able to create a single drawing or multiple drawings as fits into your natural style of drawing. You will also be able to stretch yourself by introducing an element of colour into your work.
