Community Art for leisure: Manchester’s most welcoming creative arts organisation, Ancoats Visual Arts, runs studio-based Community Art for Leisure workshops suitable for everyone who loves creative arts and crafts. No previous experience is required.  Community Art for Leisure workshops are available for charities and socially-engaged organisations looking for a day out in an inspiring studio doing something a little different.

Workshop details
Relaxing, meditative, drawing technique to calm the mind and expand your creativity.
Suitable for: 13-18; Adults, Absolute-beginner, Beginner, Improver, Intermediate

This is a 3-session workshop

Course details

Fun imaginative use of newspaper, sellotape + collage to create wonderful contemporary + creative animal sculptures perfect for door-stops or bookshelf companions.
Suitable for: 13-18; Adults, Absolute-beginner, Beginner, Improver, Intermediate

  • Workshop 1
    Learn to build the support structure for your paper animal using simple materials.  Start creating your 3D sculpture with paper + sellotape.
  • Workshop 2
    Complete the body of your creature developing the shape and details to bring out it’s character.
  • Workshop 3
    Learn how to bring your creatures to life with colourful collage and add final details with paint and wire decoration.

This is a 2-session workshop

Workshop details

Up-cycle your scrap materials to create fun quirky prints onto greetings cards or keep as framed prints for your wall.
Suitable for: 13-18; Adults, Absolute-beginner, Beginner, Improver, Intermediate

  • Workshop 1
    Learn a fun and exciting print technique to create interesting and quirky prints.  Build your Collagraph plate ready for printing.
  • Workshop 2
    Learn how to prepare your idea and get the best print.  Printing in monochrome and experimenting with adding colour.  Once dry you can add finishing touches to hand-made cards.

Artist-led art and craft workshops led by an experienced community artist.  Community Art and craft workshops are perfect for beginners, improvers and intermediate artists looking to learn and improve their arts and crafts in a friendly, relaxed, supportive workshop.
