Begin to draw + paint – April 2016

Learning to use charcoal and chalk pastel

Course Photo Diary: 23-24 April 2016

Discover what the students got up to during this course.  The exercises, the experimentation, the finished drawings and paintings.

I thoroughly enjoyed supporting a group of 10 beginners to take their first steps into the world of drawing and painting.  I filled up the 2 days with as much information about art materials, theory and practical drawing and painting exercises as I could manage.

We even visited a traditional art shop to enable students to ask as many questions as they wanted about anything to do with drawing and painting.

Student Quotes

“…it was professional, thorough, sensitive to the audience and a good introduction which gives an appetite for more….” Yael S

“Brilliant.  Great for someone starting out or returning to art.  Good to learn the basics about

equipment – what to use and buy – explained a lot and will make the choosing of items more straight forward.  More confidence to try different techniques.” Helen S

“Really enjoyable, Brian has a great approach to teaching, informative, encouraging and fun! Learnt more in a weekend than in a previous beginners course of 10 weeks.” Wendy B

“A very good introduction to a range of drawing and painting techniques, ideal for someone like me who has not picked up a pencil or brush for 40 years.” Steve J

“Strongly recommend.  Relaxing, thoughtful and pleasurable learning experience.” Philip L

“A fantastic introduction to drawing and painting.  I learnt so much about technique, materials and equipment I feel excited to go away and practise what I have learnt.” Joanne B

“It was a really enjoyable course which offered me a good understanding of the tools and techniques that I needed to learn to draw.  I would highly recommend Brian as a teacher.” James E
