Begin to draw + paint: April 2019

“It’s a great way to start painting and drawing.”

Jean G

So pleased to be back in my studio teaching after my Easter holiday. Teaching the popular Begin to draw + paint course is always an enjoyable experience as it gives me the opportunity to talk about all the things I love about art. Laura found the course “Interesting and worthwhile” in an “informal and friendly” environment which is exactly what I hope everyone will experience when they attend this course. But read further to find out what the other students thought of their experience.

Student Testimonials

“Had a fantastic time, gave me enough information to get me going. Brian was a friendly and informative tutor and the group setting provided a fun environment which enhanced the learning experience”. The highlight for me was “getting my hands dirty, meeting other people.”
Craig C

“Excellent introduction for absolute-beginners to techniques, materials. Plenty of time to practice and lots of fun. It’s very informative, and practical in a fun non-threatening and supportive environment.” My course highlight was “watercolour painting and how to draw a box… properly and in perspective.”
Max W

“A very good course for the beginner, relaxing.”
Brian W

“It was an insight into how to draw and paint properly. It’s more technical than I thought but this course takes you from the beginning. I have learnt how to use acrylics and how to use perspective. I’ve never used paint or charcoal and realise how I enjoyed it and will definitely use it from now on. Brian is very thorough and explains things well. It’s a great way to start painting and drawing.”

“Covered a lot of very useful stuff. A lot to take on board, practice and learn from. First day got tough with drawing techniques, but I understand I need to practice. Tried lots of different things, good to see what you’d like to try in the future.”
Richard F

“Really enjoyable, very informative, very good tutor. Loads of technical information about techniques, which I hadn’t appreciated before. Excellent beginners course, would encourage anyone to take further courses and get into the habit of seeing and drawing. Almost too much crammed into 2 days.”
Tom R

“Really relaxed, supportive atmosphere. Lots of individual support but also time to experiment. A lot of techniques covered over the two days. Really well planned. Small group size means advice always available. The highlight for me was “learning from someone with lots of experience, bonding time with my dad!”
Cath R

“Very interesting, gave me more interest in drawing.”
