Begin to draw + paint – April 2023

The materials day was exactly what I was after and I feel inspired and armed with knowledge to keep my experimentation and exploring going outside of the course.”

It was great to be back in the studio after the Easter holidays with a full studio of students looking to get the foundations to drawing and painting. This course is always a fabulous fast-paced weekend of tasty bite-size chunks of experiential learning. Both on the technical drawing side of making art and on the fun materials side of art making.

[I have larnt] loads about how to use materials which is really inspiring. [The highlights were using] charcoal, pastel, paint – materials, getting to play and experiment. “This is a fantastic course for a beginner or for someone who wants to go back to basics. I have learnt how to approach pencil drawing with more confidence, focussing on specific processes. Second day I learnt how to approach other materials with equal confidence. This course exceeded my expectations because I learnt so many new skills and definite processes. Brian creates an environment in which there is no failure, only experimentation. I never felt that there was any sense of negative comparison within the room.”
