Begin to draw + paint – Autumn 2020

“I really enjoyed beginning to learn a new skill.  It was such fun!”

Mark H

I had to deliver this course is 2 halves due to Covid disruption, local Tier restrictions, etc – but we got there in the end and no students lost out, due to Covid, on attending all the sessions.  But still, I was missing the usual studio dynamics of having 10 students on the course, even though it’s always good to teach even a single student and see them develop and grow in confidence over the course duration.

Student comments

“I have learnt a skills I have wanted to improve on for many years.  This beginners class has enabled me to improve my confidence and try to take the skills I have learned further.  I would say ‘go for it’ Brian teaches in a relaxed and informative way that can be understood.”

“I learnt the first basic steps in pencil drawing, and how to use charcoal, pastels, acrylic paints and water colours.  Everything was new to me but it was a very comfortable, relaxed environment to explore this. Brian was clear in his direction and teaching and the structure of the course allowed us to explore so many different mediums but also learn so much.”

“It was a great way to learn basic techniques, understand about different equipment and have a go – however good or bad you feel you are, in a safe and supportive environment.” My course highlight was “drawing with charcoals, watercolours, immersing myself and forgetting everything else.”
