Learn how the Art Elements affect picture-making and how to manipulate them. This is the vital first step to improving as an artist.The course follows a series of exercises and creative projects to enable students to experience and understand the visual impact of the Art Elements. Using the Art Elements with greater skill supports the underlying drawing to create ever more impactful artwork.

Essential Drawing Foundations
This fully tutor-led course teaches beginners and more experienced drawers innovative and creative drawing techniques that form the foundations to all future drawing and painting.Experienced and supportive teaching guides students step-by-step through practical drawing exercises to master core drawing techniques. Students will be introduced to ideas and concepts around perception and creativity, and learn an approach to drawing that will enable them to draw with a new clarity of vision, improve accuracy, and self-expression.
Every session puts forward solutions to the struggles confronted by everyone who draws – be surprised and persuaded into new understandings of what it means to draw objects within dynamic 3-dimensional space.
The course interprets key ideas developed by internationally renowned artist and author Heather Spears in her book ‘The Creative Eye’ .
