Finally got to attend Ian’s peer life drawing session after ages of not being able to go. Started working on a new direction – trying to move from drawing to a more painterly style. Here’s what I ended up with by the end of the day. I like the idea of working somewhere between drawing and painting – using large brushes, card spreaders to get textures and more linear marks with graphite and charcoal.

Not sure if the picture works as a whole – still early days yet, but definately happy with some areas with plenty more to work on and develop in future drawing sessions. Exciting start for 2013.
