It was not quite what I expected – but actually so much better. Thank you – I now feel so much more enabled”
Had a fabulous 4 days teaching a small dedicated group of students insights from Heather Spears book ‘The Creative Eye’. It was a pleasure to share my enthusiasm for this book which I know from personal experience changed the course of my drawing and understanding of the creative drawing process. The group was a combination of beginners and some with a bit more experience and everyone enjoyed the buzz of learning together in a friendly, supportive group. Read further to find out what they thought of their experience.
“Its challenging – which is good thing. It makes you re-evaluate your art. [My course highlights were] making drawings which have substance and mass. I really didn’t have any expectations – I just wanted to explore to see where it would take me.”
“The course freed me up to express myself, giving more energy to my drawing. Working with live models has given me the confidence to go to life drawing class/sessions. I learnt to look at the figure as a whole and to draw it expressively using charcoal was a new experience for me, and this also freed me up. [My course highlights were] working with live models, starting to learn how to express myself and learning to make expressive marks. It was good to get away from photo realism drawing to a freer approach.”
“Thought provoking – enjoyed the combination of psychological and scientific aspects as well as the artistic and technical. Will read the book by Heather Spears to consolidate and digest. [My course highlights were] not one single highlight but the new way of thinking.”
“This course has taken me through a process of unlearning and seeing differently. [My course highlights were] doing life drawing with a model, exercises freeing me up and enjoying the process. It was not quite what I expected – but actually so much better. Thank you – I now feel so much more enabled”
