Mixed media: landscape – June 2017

Manchester was buzzing this weekend with the non-stop sunshine, Manchester Day Parade this Sunday, and Take That playing up the road at the Etihad stadium.  So too were we in my studio in Ancoats overlooking the city – playing, experimenting and exploring ways of making textures to incorporate into our drawings and paintings on my Mixed media: landscapes course. After the course Emma said “Loved it! pure escapism, nice small class. Great location.” Read on to find out what the other students thought of their weekend in the Creative Art Courses studio.

We used a wide range of materials in true mixed media tradition and spent time focusing on how to use them all together in a more considered and thoughtful final experiment at the end of the weekend.  Although really hot in the studio we all kept our cool and everyone left having increased the knowledge and skills of using mixed media textures.  Home for a nice cool drink and a bit of relaxation in the cool evening air.

Student comments

“Great weekend, well structured without being prescriptive.  Developmental. Just all round excellence.  Really pushes you forwards with your work and creativity.” Barbara H

“Fun to experiment, informal and thought provoking.  I won’t be afraid to add different elements, techniques and materials into my own work.” David E

“I would recommend it to anyone curious about how to introduce a new dimension into their painting or stretch themselves to learn something new. It’s a friendly supportive environment – if you are nervous about attending a course for the first time – try Creative Art Courses” Lyndsey F

“Relaxed but do lots.  Fun, focused.  Learn new stuff.  Doesn’t matter what experience you have had, you can enjoy and learn lots.  Good 1:1 feedback. India C
