“It was excellent – a brilliant two days.”
A very enjoyable weekend encouraging students to embrace experimentation, playfulness and to keep asking the question ‘what if?’ This is the best way to keep mixed media painting alive and fresh and discover new and exciting things to do with paint and a variety of other materials to make both visual and high relief tactile textures. My second weekend workshop after the easing of lockdown so it was wonderful to be back! Read further to discover what the students thought of their weekend.
“Relaxed, friendly and experimental. makes you think, challenges you to play with materials and techniques. ” My course highlight was “letting go of what feel is right, have a go and not worry about the result.”
“Great way to learn about new techniques in a friendly and informal atmosphere. New ways to incorporate visual and physical textures in pictures.” My course highlight was “sgraffito techniques using sand, salt and paint.”
“Brilliant for introducing new ideas and making you more ambitious. A range of techniques which i will take away and use. Really practical and informative.” My course highlight was “learning about composition development – a real takeaway. “
“It’s fun, lots of opportunity to play around with different techniques and experiment.” I learnt to “keep things simple, aim for contrast and tone and don’t smother the textures away.” My course highlight was “being able to be totally messy. Love the way most things are provided.”
“Fabulous! Well paced 2 days – mixture of direct teaching and demo and then creating ourselves. very well structured to develop a range of skills – building up gently.” My course highlight was “becoming self absorbed in my own artwork yet feeling part of a small supportive group with effective feedback.”
