Acrylic painting L1
£145.00
Weekend course 2-days
The perfect place to start learning to use acrylics paints.
Students are taught about the properties of acrylic paint and the appropriate equipment to use.
Exercises and projects are based on traditional still life arrangements and help students learn about colour theory, brush control, and a range of other techniques.
Suitable for:
Adult, beginners, improvers, returners
Course Structure
Students are amazed at how fast they learn new acrylic painting skills and quickly start to see their own style develop, as their confidence and creative skills grow. The knowledge and skills that students learn, will be practiced while painting several still life studies during the course.
Introduction to acrylic paints
Session 1
Receive an introduction to acrylic paints and their properties, techniques and the right equipment. Learn the basics of colour theory, the colour wheel, and the many properties of colour so that you will be able to exploit these in your painting.
Tone and 3D modelling
Session 2
Learn about tonal modelling using neutral colours by painting a still life of simple shapes and colours. Students will work with a limited palette to create solid shapes using appropriate techniques and careful colour mixing.
Developing colour, tone + texture
Session3
Painting a new still life arrangement will give students the opportunity to develop their paintings further with tonal modelling using related or analogous colours, along with improving brush control and paint techniques to create a pleasing composition.
Composition
Session 4
Learn to compose your own painting while developing your skills in tonal modelling, using colour, and developing texture to create a distinctive mood. Inspiration comes from a classic arrangement of colourful fruit and vegetables with a variety of texture and shape.
By the end of the course…
Students will receive a solid introduction to using acrylic paints and go home feeling confident and enthused in their new skills and by the creative possibilities of acrylic paints.
