Cezanne – simplifying nature
£43.00
Monday evening workshop 1-session
– all materials included
Cezanne is known as the father of Modernism.
He saw beyond surface detail and painted the underlying structure and form of objects, wanting to “treat nature by the cylinder, the sphere, the cone”.
Learn from the master and improve shape, form and structure in drawings and paintings.
Suitable for: Adult, beginners, improvers, intermediate
Course Structure
This practical tutor-led workshop will enliven student’s own creativity and offer them new ideas to improve their own drawing and painting. There is added inspiration from contemporary living artists that will give a modern twist to Cezanne’s influence. Students will create their own expressive contemporary still life drawings that embrace shape, form and structure.
Inspiration
THE MAIN FOCUS
Students will learn that even now in the 21 century artists are still reflecting on the issues Cezanne tried to resolve. The focus of the workshop is to guide students to explore and develop their own personal skills and techniques. Students will be supported and guided to create inspired, personal, creative artwork that help them develop their own drawing or painting style.
What will students be drawing or painting?
Contemporary still life drawings with simplified shapes, focusing on structure, planes + facets. Colour + pattern will be strongly featured.
Students will be using oil pastels + pencil during the workshop.
By the end of the workshop…
Students will leave the workshop understanding the Cezanne’s ideas more fully. Having travelled a creative journey to discover their own creative solutions, students will be better able to transform their own drawing and painting.
