Online creative support can be the difference between feeling despondent and giving up, compared to feeling rejuvenated and excited about persevering and completing a personal creative project. My ability to offer a discerning critical eye, an affirmative word to keep students motivated, or guidance as to what the next creative step should be, is sometimes all students need when working alone at home.

A bit of extra creative support can be hugely beneficial for those enrolled on an online course.  Reduce the worry and enable more productive time with your course tutor and coursework.

The support I offer is in Fine Art skills and creativity – I do not offer support for illustration, animation, design or graphic projects.

What happens during an Online support session?

    Establishing a safe space and ensuring confidentiality is always the starting point. Creating art is an intensely personal thing and this is always fully respected and celebrated. Sessions include;

    • friendly and encouraging responses to students’ drawings and paintings
    • affirmation on creative successes and guidance on areas that need improving
    • encouragement and suggestions on maintaining a positive creative attitude
    • practical advice on how the Art Elements (line, tone, colour, form, shape, pattern, texture) and composition are working and how they can be improved
    • advice and guidance on materials and techniques
    • help with understanding course criteria and confusing ‘artspeak’
  • Is Online support for me?

    Private online support usually suits students who;

    • work in isolation at home on their own, with a partner, or within a small friendship group
    • are looking for general support with their creative projects
    • feel they will benefit both creatively and technically from regular objective feedback
    • need a reassuring word of encouragement every now and then to continue on the right track
    • need some extra help with their online studies

  • What level course is right for me?

To help you answer the question,

“What level course is right for me?”

To help you decide what level course is most suited, you will see Teaching Levels explained within the Course Info tab.

Students will always benefit from clear instructions, lots of one-to-one tuition, guidance and supportive encouragement on all of my courses.

    Level 0: Absolute-beginner
For absolute-beginners to start learning art for the first time. Teaching focuses on core skills with step-by-step instructions.

    Level 1: Beginner
For beginners looking to establish, refresh and gain confidence in fundamental core techniques.

    Level 2: Improver
For improvers who already have the basics and wish to develop and enhance their skills and techniques further.

    Level 3: Intermediate
For those students with a growing, but limited, amount of art experience who feel confident in their art knowledge and skills yet recognise the need for further creative learning to take their art to the next level.

    Level 4: Experienced
For those students with creative experience who feel confident in their abilities and techniques, who are looking to challenge themselves further, to create a coherent body of work, possibly to exhibit and sell.

  • What course should I do next?

To help you answer the question,

“What course should I do next?”

There are 2 approaches to deciding what to do next.

    1. Treat my courses as a Mix + Match Patchwork
All my courses can be booked as single stand-alone courses on whichever topic takes your interest.
Just book whichever course you want when it suits you.
    2. Choose one of the linked courses at the bottom of this page
These courses are suggestions that will help you develop and progress your art in a more focused direction.

Whichever approach you choose, remember to check the Teaching Levels to decide if the course is appropriate for you. Contact me if you’re not sure and I’ll be happy to help.
