Still life beyond the frame
Paintings that burst out from the restrictions of the standard rectangle add a whole new level of intrigue and excitement. Once you go beyond the frame and pay specific attention to the edges of your artwork a whole new exciting world of creative opportunity opens up.

This inspiring course explores how abandoning the standardised framework allows you a wilder sense of creative freedom and adds exciting visual dynamic to your art.

You will learn;

• mixed media and collage techniques
• how to build compositions intuitively with a sense of freedom
• to explore your creative ideas and express yourself through still life composition
• about Modern and contemporary artists and deepen your appreciation of the visual arts

You will be using soft colour pastels, charcoal and collage in an exciting mixed media technique that allows you complete creative freedom. You will work on a series of mini projects and complete a large scale mixed-media still life uncovering new avenues for self-expression and exciting techniques to improve your art.

Inspiration comes from contemporary artists like Diana Savostaite, Peter Monaghan and Clare Murray Adams while looking back for inspiration to artists such as Picasso, Ben Nicholson and Frank Stella.
